Part 1 (In-Class or Distance Learning)
The Part 1 training consists of 19 ½ hours (3 days) addressing knowledge of related sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, common health and safety hazards, their causes, effects and control, effective meetings, planned inspections and accident investigation. Part 1 must be completed before Part 2.

Part 1 (e-learning)
Part 1 e-learning consists of 14 hours self-paced, on-line training allowing the learner to complete the training within 30 days of enrollment.

Part 2 (In-Class or Distance Learning)
Part 2 training consists of 13 hours (2 days) addressing at least six hazard topics which relate to the specific workplace as determined by the employer. Part 2 must be completed within 12 months of completion of Part 1.

Refresher (In-Class or Distance Learning)
Refresher training consists of 6 ½ hours (1 day) addressing the salient topics of Part 1 and Part 2 training including any changes to legislation. The workshop is interactive allowing for Certified Members to share experiences from the previous 3 years’ activities as JHSC members. Refresher training must be completed every 3 years following initial certification.

COSTS:

Part 1 $425.00 per participant plus HST (In-Class, Distance or e-Learning)

Part 2 $325.00 per participant plus HST (In-Class or Distance Learning)

Refresher $275.00 per participant plus HST (In-Class or Distance Learning)

We also offer “on site” training at the customer’s facility where numbers allow and Part 1 is available as an individual, self-paced e-learning option. Please contact our office.

A one-day, eLearning basic training program to help Health and Safety Representatives perform their legislative functions has been developed through collaboration between the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and health and safety partners. You can find more information about this program on Health and safety representatives | ontario.ca (https://www.ontario.ca/page/health-and-safety-representatives#section-2)

Costs: $25.00 plus HST Registration Fee

The requirement is that “workers on construction projects who use any of the following methods of fall protection: travel restraint systems, fall restricting systems, fall arrest systems, safety nets and work belts or safety belts” to successfully complete a 6 1/2 hour (1 day) workshop addressing the causes, effects and controls of hazards on construction projects. When certified, workers are required to attend a 1/2 day refresher training every three years.

Public workshops at our Training Centre: $150.00 per participant (plus HST)
Refresher Training: $100.00 per participant (plus HST)
