Forklift, Scissor/Manlift, and Overhead Crane

Clause 25 (2) (a) of the Occupational Health Safety Act places an obligation on an employer to "provide information, instruction and supervision to a worker to protect the health or safety of the worker". Regulation 851 is more specific and states that a lifting device is only to be operated by a competent person.

Classroom training.
This includes the theory of equipment operation, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, hazards identification and related safety issues. The scope of the class content is designed to address the requirements of the Ministry of Labor Guidelines and CSA Standard B335-15.

Practical skills assessment/training.
An assessment of the competency of each participant, on each of the identified types of equipment, is conducted in their work environment. For beginners, subsequent practical training can take up to three days. The scope of the practical training is designed to address the requirements of Ministry of Labor Guidelines and CSA Standard B335-15

In-workshop remedial coaching.
Coaching of participants is provided during skill assessment when unfamiliarity or unsafe techniques with the equipment is observed. There are three levels of training provided.

Beginner: Counterbalance or Reach Truck - 2 Day workshop: $300.00

Beginner: Counterbalance and Reach Truck - 3 Day workshop: $450.00

Beginner: Counterbalance, Reach Truck, Order Picker and Ride-on Walkie - 4 Day workshop: $600.00

Experienced (not previously certified): $200 + HST for one piece of equipment and $25.00 + HST for each additional piece of equipment.

Recertification: (certification verified) - 3 hours: From $100.00 to $175.00 depending upon the number of machines. i.e. one machine is $100.00, 4 machines is $175.00.

Practical Skills Assessment - 10 – 30 minutes : $50.00

Scissor/Manlift - 4 hours: $125.00

Overhead Crane Operation - 4 hours: $125.00
